The Red White discus is an incredible strain. It’s similar to the San Merah in that it was bred over many years to reach a completely red body, without stress bars or patterns. Its root is in a cross between a Golden discus and a red based Brown discus. The Golden discus is a man made cultivated strain, bred from a Brown discus by Malaysian breed Kim Keng How. The original fry grew up with a golden base, white stripes on the front half of the body, and red eyes. Later breeding created almost entirely golden bodies, with few white markings. Thus a breeding between a Golden discus and a reddish Brown mutation discus would result in this incredible deep red of the Red White discus—without any striping or patterns.
