Carnation Turquoise Collection

Carnation Turquoise discus are actually a form of striated. These fish are a strain of the earliest tank-bred strains, such as the Red and Turquoise discus. Snakeskin, for example, are another strain with finer striated patterns. The root of the striated cultivated pattern comes from the Blue Turquoise discus, many of which were developed by Jack Wattley from several crossings of wild and tank raised blue and green discus. When crossed with the Checkerboard (an incredible pattern resulting from a mutation that was then harnessed by cross breeding), the red striations smooth out the checkerboard pattern, creating a more flowing of lines that become straighter when they reach the fins.
