From Our Hatcheries to You: How We Ship Your Discus

You pay, what we pay. No gimmicks or add on charges for shipping. We ship to all fifty states using Airport-to-Airport Delta Cargo Dash and UPS Priority Overnight shipping. For all major cities in the U.S., your order will arrive by 10:30 am. Note: at this time, we only ship domestically within the US, but this may change in the future. For our international customers, please contact us directly, and we will make private arrangements.

To ensure your discus arrive healthily to you, your order will be shipped direct from our breeding facilities to your door or nearest airport, reducing stress on the fish.  We have been packing discus fish for over 20 years using tried and true methods to ensure your fish have the best transition to your aquarium as possible. We take special care in packing and shipping our discus to be sure they arrive safe and healthy to your aquarium. The discus are triple or quadruple bagged in aged water. Bags are lined with black opaque bag liners, and filled with pure oxygen before closing. The bags are then tightly packed in 1.5″ styrofoam insulated shipping boxes, with heat packs to ensure that the water is maintained between 82 to 84 degrees.

We use two different sized boxes, 17 x 17 x 10 and 15 x 15 x 21. Here’s a photo of one of our 17 x 17 x 10 boxes.

Rates apply according to weight, which can reach as much as 40 lbs depending on your order. Depending on your UPS “zone,” i.e. state, and weight of package, prices can range from $25-$230. Through our experience, we have capped the price at $125 for UPS Overnight.

(Lowest and Highest range based on zones 1-10. Note: these are merely estimates. Actual shipping costs will be calculated on the checkout page.)
