When choosing a tank stand, you have a few options. You can use one designed specifically for your tank, or you can use other pieces of furniture as tanks stands. Tanks weigh a lot, especially when full of water, so you need to make sure that the stand can support your tank’s weight.
Stands should keep the tank level to keep the weight distributed properly. If your tank is not level, stress will be placed in the wrong areas, which could cause your tank to break. You can place a ¼ inch sheet of thermacoal between the stand and the tank to more evenly distribute the weight.
The type of tank you use will determine the size requirements for your stand. A stand for a glass tank only needs to support the edges, whereas a stand for an acrylic tank needs to support the entire base.
