Plans for a Custom Built Wet/Dry Filter

Here’s the base for the wet/dry filter.  It’s really just an aquarium (36″x10″x18″) with some glass panels siliconed inside to allow water to flow through the media. Right click on the image below and select “open in a new tab.”

Now I’ve put the guideline strips of acrylic into the filter to hold the egg crate in place.  This will allow the media to sit in the filter but stay off of the bottom.  There are also a couple of pieces of acrylic on top of each of the Bio-ball compartments.  Later these pieces will have many holes drilled in them to allow water to flow through but force it to contact the entire surface of the media rather then pouring over the edge. I can fit a couple of Ebo Jager 200 watt heaters under the biggest compartment but unfortunately the glass is too low to allow a 250 watt heater.
