Interactive Things Your Discus Will Do

Discus Fish

Discus are not only beautiful, but also intelligent. Since these energetic fish are aware of what is going on around them, they are interactive company to have around.

They will react to you, other people around their tank, and even to what they see on TV. They will watch you as you enter the room and walk around it. Even if you just come near their tank, a healthy discus will eventually approach you. When you feed them, they will even eat out of your hand. Eventually, your discus will recognize you.


Feeding Discus by Hand

Discus fish are known as “king of the aquarium” tropical fish. While discus fish babies can be voracious at feeding time, adult discus fish are usually more relaxed and graceful, unless they are frightened. Adult discus eat slowly.

Discus fish exhibit unique parental behavior. Both parents take an active role in raising their young. You will see their interactions with their fry and young.

You will also see your discus’ social interactions among the other fish in their tank.

All these reasons make the discus a fascinating fish to watch. Make sure your tank is positioned so that you can easily see your discus.
