The Leopard Snakeskin discus came to be in the 1990s. Snakeskin strains were, and are, very popular to breed and cross with other strains. Teoh Beng Chye crossed a Leopard discus with a Snakeskin, introducing them in 1997. There are multiple variations, all of which affect the size of the spots, whether there are spots on the gill covers, the different web patterns on the face, and finally the base coloring.
